BSU Postgraduate Admission Requirement

To get the application form for the BSU School of Postgraduate Studies, you must meet the following requirements:

1. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

• Candidates must pass English and Mathematics at the O’ level (WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB) to meet matriculation requirements.
• Graduates who have obtained at least a third-class honors degree from Benue State University or any other recognized university.
• Individuals who hold a Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least a Lower Credit grade from recognized institutions are eligible.
• Holders of any other qualifications, along with relevant field experience deemed acceptable by the University.

2. Masters Degree

• Candidates must have credits in English Language and Mathematics at the O’ level (e.g. WAEC, NECO, NABTEB).
• BSU graduates with approved 1st degree, 2nd Class Honours (Lower).
• Degree with 3.00+ CGPA or 2.40-2.99 CGPA + 3 years post-graduation.
• Candidates who have obtained a Third Class honors degree and have at least five years of post-graduation experience are eligible to apply.
• Applicants must possess a Postgraduate Diploma from Benue State University or any recognized institution with at least a pass at the credit level.
• Candidates whose degrees are unclassified, but have an average grade of C or above, are eligible to apply.
• Candidates need a Higher National Diploma (minimum credit) from recognized institutions and a Postgraduate Diploma (minimum pass at credit level) from Benue State University in relevant areas.

3. Master of Philosophy (M. Phil) and Masters by Research Degrees

• Graduates who have obtained an approved first degree with at least Second Class Honours (Upper Division) from Benue State University or other recognized institutions.
• A Second Class Honours Degree with a substantial amount of pertinent industrial experience is required.

4. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Degree

• Graduates who have obtained a Master’s Degree relevant to the proposed areas of study from Benue State University.
• Graduates from other recognized universities who hold a master’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 on a 5.00 scale.
• Candidates for the Ph.D. programs may be required to pass a qualifying examination and/or undergo a probationary period not exceeding 12 calendar months.

How to Apply for BSU Postgraduate Admission Form 2024/2025

METHOD OF APPLICATION
i.Applications are available exclusively online. Visit the Benue State University website www.bsum.edu.ng, go to the “Applications” section, and click on “Postgraduate.” Complete the pre-registration form and submit it to receive your Application Number. Be sure to print a copy of the form for your records.
ii. Applicants should proceed to the designated bank, Fidelity, with a printed copy of the preregistration form and pay a non-refundable application fee of N20,000 using the generated application number.
iii. After payment, applicants should return to the Benue State University Portal, click on “Postgraduate,” and complete the Application Form. Upload your academic credentials and relevant documents, then submit them online. Remember to print a copy of the completed form for your records.

Ensure that all three referees complete the online reference forms.

Note that applications without the required documents will not be considered. Late applications, starting 30 days after the advertisement date, will incur an additional fee of five thousand naira (₦5,000.00).

Guidelines for filling application forms

Applicants must provide all requested information in the application form. Incomplete applications will be deemed void. It is essential to clearly state the proposed course of study, including any areas of specialization. Applicants should ensure that their official transcripts of academic records are sent to the Postgraduate School by their previous universities. Applications lacking official transcripts will not be processed. Candidates may apply for admission to only one Degree or Diploma program at a time.

The application fee is twenty thousand naira (N20,000).

Closing Date

The application closing date is 30 days from the date of the advertisement. After this period, an additional fee will apply to the application.
