To get the application form for the RSU School of Postgraduate Studies, you must meet the following requirements:
1. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)
Candidates must pass English and Mathematics at the O’ level (WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB) to meet matriculation requirements.
Graduates who have obtained at least a third-class honors degree from Rivers State University or any other recognized university.
Individuals who hold a Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least a Lower Credit grade from recognized institutions are eligible.
Holders of any other qualifications, along with relevant field experience deemed acceptable by the University.
2. Masters Degree
Candidates must have credits in English Language and Mathematics at the O’ level (e.g. WAEC, NECO, NABTEB).
RSU graduates with approved 1st degree, 2nd Class Honours (Lower).
Degree with 3.00+ CGPA or 2.40-2.99 CGPA + 3 years post-graduation.
Candidates who have obtained a Third Class honors degree and have at least five years of post-graduation experience are eligible to apply.
Applicants must possess a Postgraduate Diploma from Rivers State University or any recognized institution with at least a pass at the credit level.
Candidates whose degrees are unclassified, but have an average grade of C or above, are eligible to apply.
Candidates need a Higher National Diploma (minimum credit) from a recognized institution and a Postgraduate Diploma (minimum pass at credit level) from Rivers State University in relevant areas.
3. Master of Philosophy (M. Phil) and Masters by Research Degrees
Graduates who have obtained an approved first degree with at least Second Class Honours (Upper Division) from Rivers State University or other recognized institutions.
A Second Class Honours Degree with a substantial amount of pertinent industrial experience is required.
4. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Degree
Graduates who have obtained a Master’s Degree relevant to the proposed areas of study from Rivers State University.
Graduates from other recognized universities who hold a master’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 on a 5.00 scale.
Candidates for the Ph.D. programs may be required to pass a qualifying examination and/or undergo a probationary period not exceeding 12 calendar months.
How to Apply for RSU Postgraduate Admission Form 2024/2025
To apply for admission to any postgraduate program, please visit www.ust.edu.ngand make an online payment of Forty-Five Thousand Naira (₦45,000.00) using an Interswitch Verve-enabled card. After completing the online application form, download it and submit a hard copy to the Secretary of the Postgraduate School along with the required documents listed below:
i) Photocopies of Certificates.
ii) Certified academic transcripts are required. Applicants must ensure that copies of their academic transcripts are sent under strict confidentiality directly to The Secretary, Postgraduate School, Rivers State University, Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt.
iii) Please provide a letter of reference from three referees, including at least one from a previous academic institution. This letter should confirm that the applicant is qualified to pursue advanced studies and research and that the referee is confident the applicant will benefit from the training.
Additionally, PhD applicants should include a brief research proposal outlining their intended areas of study along with their application forms.
