AKSU Postgraduate Admission Requirement
To get the application form for the AKSU School of Postgraduate Studies, you must meet the following requirements:
1. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)
- Candidates must pass English and Mathematics at the O’ level (WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB) to meet matriculation requirements.
- Graduates who have obtained at least a third-class honors degree from Akwa Ibom State University or any other recognized university.
- Individuals who hold a Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least a Lower Credit grade from recognized institutions are eligible.
- Holders of any other qualifications, along with relevant field experience deemed acceptable by the University.
2. Masters Degree
- Candidates must have credits in English Language and Mathematics at the O’ level (e.g. WAEC, NECO, NABTEB).
- AKSU graduates with approved 1st degree, 2nd Class Honours (Lower).
- Degree with 3.00+ CGPA or 2.40-2.99 CGPA + 3 years post-graduation.
- Candidates who have obtained a Third Class honors degree and have at least five years of post-graduation experience are eligible to apply.
- Applicants must possess a Postgraduate Diploma from Akwa Ibom State University or any recognized institution with at least a pass at the credit level.
- Candidates whose degrees are unclassified, but have an average grade of C or above, are eligible to apply.
- Candidates need a Higher National Diploma (minimum credit) from recognized institutions and a Postgraduate Diploma (minimum pass at credit level) from Akwa Ibom State University in relevant areas.
3. Master of Philosophy (M. Phil) and Masters by Research Degrees
- Graduates who have obtained an approved first degree with at least Second Class Honours (Upper Division) from Akwa Ibom State University or other recognized institutions.
- A Second Class Honours Degree with a substantial amount of pertinent industrial experience is required.
4. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Degree
- Graduates who have obtained a Master’s Degree relevant to the proposed areas of study from Akwa Ibom State University.
- Graduates from other recognized universities who hold a master’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 on a 5.00 scale.
- Candidates for the Ph.D. programs may be required to pass a qualifying examination and/or undergo a probationary period not exceeding 12 calendar months.

Duration of AKSU Postgraduate Programmes
Postgraduate Diploma Programmes
- Full-Time Diploma: A minimum of three semesters and a maximum of six semesters are required to complete the program.
- Part-Time Diploma: The program lasts a minimum of four semesters and a maximum of eight semesters.
Masters Degree Programmes
- Full-Time: Students must complete a minimum of three semesters and may take a maximum of ten semesters to finish their program.
- Part-Time: Students must complete a minimum of four semesters and can take a maximum of eight semesters to finish their program.
MPhil/Ph.D Programmes
- Full-Time: Students must complete a minimum of six semesters and a maximum of ten semesters.
- Part-Time: A student may enroll for a minimum of six semesters and a maximum of eight semesters.
Ph.D Programme
- Full-Time: A minimum of four semesters is required, with a maximum limit of ten semesters.
- Part-Time: A minimum of six semesters and a maximum of fourteen semesters is allowed.
How to Apply for AKSU Postgraduate Admission Form 2024/2025:
Application forms can be accessed online for payment of N20,000.00 (twenty thousand Naira) only, excluding additional charges. The following steps should be followed:
- Visit http://www.aksu.edu.ng/pg
- Click the “Start Now” button
- Select “ENROL”
- Select Postgraduate
- Enter a Phone Number
- On the next page enter the last six (6) digits of the Phone Number you entered in 5
- Enter the basic details (Surname, First Name, Other Names, Date of Birth, Gender and Marital Status)
- Click the card option to pay NGN20,000 (excluding Bank Charges) using your debit card.
- AFTER PAYMENT
- a)Follow steps 1-5
- b)Complete the Online registration form by providing the required information.
- c)Print the completed form
- d)You are required to scan and upload the following documents:
- SSC or its equivalent
- Degree/HND/OND
- PGD/PGDE( For M.Sc. applicants only)
- M.Sc./M.A/M.Ed./MBA/ ( For Ph.D applicants only)
- NYSC(discharge/exemption/exclusion)
- Birth Certificate
- Certificate Of Origin
- Click the SUBMIT button after filling out the form.
- PRINT the Registration Confirmation slip as proof of registration.
NOTE:
- Akwa Ibom State University does not offer part-time admission for the Academic master’s program.
