OAU Postgraduate Admission Requirement

To get the application form for OAU’s School of Postgraduate Studies, you must meet certain requirements.

1. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

• Candidates must pass English and Mathematics at the O’ level (WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB) to meet matriculation requirements.
• Graduates who have obtained at least a third-class honors degree from Obafemi Awolowo University or any other recognized university.
• Individuals who hold a Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least a Lower Credit grade from recognized institutions are eligible.
• Holders of any other qualifications, along with relevant field experience deemed acceptable by the University.

2. Masters Degree

• Candidates must have credits in English Language and Mathematics at the O’ level (e.g. WAEC, NECO, NABTEB).
• OAU graduates with approved 1st degree, 2nd Class Honours (Lower).
• Degree with 3.00+ CGPA or 2.40-2.99 CGPA + 3 years post-graduation.
• Candidates who have obtained a Third Class honors degree and have at least five years of post-graduation experience are eligible to apply.
• Applicants must possess a Postgraduate Diploma from Obafemi Awolowo University or any recognized institution with at least a pass at the credit level.
• Candidates whose degrees are unclassified, but have an average grade of C or above, are eligible to apply.
• Candidates need a Higher National Diploma (minimum credit) from recognized institutions and a Postgraduate Diploma (minimum pass at credit level) from Obafemi Awolowo University in relevant areas.

3. Master of Philosophy (M. Phil) and Masters by Research Degrees

• Graduates who have obtained an approved first degree with at least Second Class Honours (Upper Division) from Obafemi Awolowo University or other recognized institutions.
• A Second Class Honours Degree with a substantial amount of pertinent industrial experience is required.

4. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Degree

• Graduates who have earned a relevant Master’s Degree from Obafemi Awolowo University in the proposed areas of study.
• Graduates from recognized universities who hold a master’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 on a 5.00 scale.
• Candidates for the Ph.D. programs may need to pass a qualifying examination and/or complete a probationary period not exceeding 12 months.
